I viewed it early in the east and late in the west. It was very bright.

Can someone tell me why it is called a Blue Moon?

That it is the second full moon in a calendar month I knew.

The question is why “blue” moon.

They have names for all kinds of full moons based on time of year… but not sure (reliably) why the second full moon in a month is called a blue moon.

This interesting article from Smithsonian Magazine published in 2021 says it's probably folklore.
