GOP pollster on Trump-Harris: ‘I haven’t seen anything like this’

Harris Trump

By Matt Arco | NJ Advance Media for NJ.com

Republican pollster Frank Luntz appears stunned at the current state of the Kamala Harris-Donald Trump matchup and this year’s presidential election.

Luntz, who’s been called “The Nostradamus of pollsters” and conducts focus groups, had been bullish on Trump defeating Joe Biden and returning to the White House. Now, he says, he can’t believe what he’s seeing among his focus groups and in the polls.

“She’s bringing out people who are not interested in voting for either Trump or Biden, so the entire electoral pool has changed and if it continues in this direction you have to start to consider Democrats winning the Senate and Democrats winning the House,” Luntz said Wednesday on CNBC.

“She’s got intensity now. She’s got an intensity advantage. She’s got a demographic advantage and I haven’t seen anything like this happen in 30 days in my lifetime,” he said. “Now my groups are broken up by young women saying, ‘I’m not voting for him anymore.’”

He added: “The people who are undecided have all collapsed towards Harris. The people who are ‘weak’ Trump have all collapsed towards undecided.”

Luntz told hosts of “Squawk Box” that he’s attempting to hold a focus group of undecided, younger female voters, but is having trouble finding enough people who fit that category.

“You shift the demographics and you shift the entire outcome,” he said. “There are issues, attributes and the condition of the country. The issues and the conditions favor Donald Trump. He should be winning this election. But the attributes are so much in Harris’ favor that he’s not.”

It's interesting, for lack of a better word, that "fear" or "dread" is a major factor in the division.

Both sides see it as justified and real.

I think it's a big deal.

Each side poo poos the other's fears.

IMO, much of it is just weird, from the POV of what is the "signal"?

"What is the meaning of the movie The Signal?
The Signal (2014 film) - Wikipedia
Director William Eubank stated in an interview, "The Signal, for me, is about choices and sort of what drives somebody – the decisions we make, whether we make them based on thinking logically or thinking emotionally."

I am good with powder, brass, and bullets. Just ordered some more large rifle primers to be ahead of the curve.

Will get busy hedging all my investments in September if the polls don’t turn around.

This will be the most radical left wing executive branch in history if elected — not to mention the dumbest.

I have also stocked up over the years with ammo, guns and reloading supplies. Way too much.

As you know, we disagree regarding politics and ideology.

I suppose what's bothering me is our divergent definition of "radical", and the differences in our basis. It's the basis that I can't reconcile.

For example, I think it's radical to call the Left radical, as IDed by Harris/Walz.

I think it can't be reconciled, and honestly, I blame you for that. I believe I can be swayed, and I believe you cannot be swayed. It's the difference in an adopted ideology and a rigid ideology. And it's bigger than just between you and I. It's about the whole scope of division.

It's bewildering, and dreadful, for lack of better words,

IF that turns out to be the case, folks like yourself will have no one to blame but yourselves. Y’all have consistently supported an immoral, unethical, lying seditionist. All the while independents and moderates have been just waiting to support anyone but Biden or Trump. The GOP needs a tear down and rebuild. That starts with excising the cancer that is Trump. Luntz has said for months that the first party to dump their candidate would win the election.

Democrats have a gift for delusion. Of course, so do the Trumpeteers. The Democrats are blind to Kamala's shortcomings and tell themselves they are attracting new voters to the fold. Trumpeteers refuse to believe that most people do not worship their revered leader. To support either one is impossible but voting against either one makes sense. Bill

Bill, I actually support Harris/Walz.

And, detesting Trump/Trumpism is a separate thing, IMO.

For me, IMO, it's not lesser of two weevils at all.

I don't like to use the word "evil", but if I did I would use it this way:

In my view it's good vs evil.

But since I don't like the word "evil" because of the religious context, my view is it's about something resembling good vs utter depraved corruption.

It warms my soul to see you vote your druthers. A whisper of protest is better than silence.
I vote Libertarian for the most part for what I think might be similar reasons.

Harris/Walz will propose gun legislation that will be too extreme for mainstream Democrats.
That kind of thing will go nowhere, like it has for decades. Maybe they will fix roads and bridges.

The 11th Commandment: “Thou shalt not speak ill of another Republican.”

Funny, A) Trump has violated this “Commandment” multiple times. B) I see nothing in the “ Commandment”that requires blind loyalty to someone who engaged in Trump’s post election behavior, dereliction on Jan 6, and schemes to maintain power. I believe President Regan would agree. President Regan stopped mob stupidity over a park. I have no doubt he would have stopped Jan 6 mob. At least, President Regan would have conceded the Office with dignity that would have went a long way at preventing violence. President Regan would not have schemed to stay in power. C) I disagree w the whole notion of elevating such crass political view to that of the Old Testament law if Moses. D) The “Commandment” does not absolve you of your responsibility to use the power of the vote to keep a man who schemed to prevent his surly elected opponent from the White House. A man who permitted violence upon our Constitution to help further his plan to keep power that was not his to keep. A man who had the power to stop that violence.

How many times has it been true?

Ammo and shooting supplies will (rightfully or wrongfully) become nonexistent if Harris wins. Just like they did when 0bama won and just like they have been until recently under Biden.

I shoot a lot. Thus I keep a rotating inventory. But make no mistake…I have started shoring up this week to ready for the next 4 years of nothing to be had.

A time honored tactic. Sell the fear. The NRA is a master of the tactic. Ask gun dealers, they will tell you that Democratic administrations are a Godsend for sales. You have folks like Lane all whipped up into a lather and they go on hoarding sprees. The only people that get hurt are fellow sportsmen who can longer buy things they need because of the hoarders.

The sky is falling, the sky is falling. Sell the fear.

For one thing, it means it would be a good time to sell some surplus when Harris is elected.

Not for me however, I learned my lesson in 2009. Now I just keep a rotating inventory. So “I” don’t contribute to any shortages…I just buy what I use. It just goes on the back of the shelf.

Well, forgive me but please point out all the legislation that was passed by the Dem administrations that made bullets, primers, powder and other reloading components scarce.

Again, it was a "problem" because you made it one with panic buying. A solution to a "problem" that didn't exist. It's just fear-mongering, the GOP's time-honored (and these days, only) tactic.
