Antifa to be declared a ‘terrorist organization’.
quote:
How does one compromise with someone who considers you to be the equivalent to the embodiment of evil?

With the Trump regime, and his base, declaring any opposition as the embodiment of evil, is actually their fascist playbook.

One can't compromise facing that. It's like when someone calls another the enemy. How do you compromise with that? It will be taken as capitulation.

One way out is to be enemy and work it out as enemies. Zero sum. It seems that's the only way such fascist wannabees understand.

The other way is through reason. We can see the limitations there.

I'm working with reason.

As I recall, you claimed that when I appeal to authority to you that means I don't know what I'm talking about. Those AI overviews look at many sources and produce the summary or overview. I don't know how that works. Anyway, that's appeal to authority with help.

I figure that no matter what I say or sources you're going to dismiss it anyway.

I can argue in my own words and with my own knowledge, but inevitably it would be flawed. You do that and often flaw, which I correct by appealing to authority.

Fascism in the Trump regime isn't a boogie. It's real, and rational to call it what it is. It's not rational to deny the reality of it like you do.

Some of the citations I presented apparently try to overcome bias by presenting all sides when there's ongoing debate. And you use that as an excuse to dismiss. You are full of excuses.

I consider factual as the primary tool to get to truth. If debate isn't cooled that way, it can't be cooled with reason.

Fascism isn't loaded language if it's truth/reality. Fascists aren't respectful of those who tiptoe.

By now you should have figured that I'm not going to stop using the F word. Get over it.

Dr. Butler, I think you're wrong that Trump isn't a fascist. Before the last election I would have agreed with you. But not now after seeing him go after leftwing voices and political opponents and censoring free speech.

Face it: Trump is a fascist. If his trend continues, most Americans here will fear arrest.

No, being a fascist doesn't make him a Nazi. You're not a Nazi until you round up and murder millions of people for their race, ethnicity, or politial views.

And another thing I thought of, Doc, is that considering one evil compared to claiming another to be the enemy doesn't result in the same cause and effect, from the POV of the accused.

Evil is on the person to own, or not. Enemy designation might cause the accused to be defensive and thus look like the enemy to the accuser. If a twisted person calls me evil doesn't make me evil. If a twisted person calls me the enemy that might cause me to not ignore that and be defensive, expecting the worse.

I guess a guy has a right to his opinions, but you are feeding in to how Trump won a majority.

The fact that you don’t really understand what you keep posting is part of why I dismiss your arguments as I do.

Trump isn’t that different than the extreme left. They also believe in the end justifies the means.

You’re more rational than ME on this issue.

Trump is showing a lot of authoritarianism and populism in his behaviors, and yes, both of those are part of fascism.

But Trump doesn’t really play the cult of personality part (yes, some of his supporters do…)

Trump doesn’t really support nationalism but rather uses it for a crutch. His attacks on nationalistic items in the past shows this.

Trump is Trump. His political positions really vary based on what group he’s talking about to who. He’s rather narcissistic and can’t tolerate criticism of himself, and while he tends to identify the president as the country as long as he’s president, he still is more about DJ Trump than the US.

Thus he’s more about gaining power personally than anything else. He’s not about strengthening the nation-state.

Thus, while he is not a fascist, he’s certainly not a good leader, either.

If he could find a way, he would probably prefer to be like Napoleon- declare himself emperor of the Americas rather than have a political movement.

While reading that post, Doc, I smiled. Smiler

I like to read between the lines, so to speak. I look at structure, and the juxtapositions, for hidden meaning, trying to read what you're thinking but maybe not saying.

I think you're coming around. I think you know how lame your rationale is. Smiler It reads like self-contradictions or doublethink.

He isn’t a fascist.

End stop.

He’s just an awful choice as president.

But then, so was Biden.

As opposed to I disagreed with his policies for Obama and disagreed with his execution of his policies with GW Bush.

Frankly, after the last couple, I miss Obama. I disliked his policies, but the man had dignity.

Okay Doc, we both made our points although I provided backup for mine and you just declared yours. I'll quit pestering you. But thanks for the great fodder for discussion. Smiler

well you do not want to see it but if it looks a facist and smells facist there ia big chance of being a facist ... soon you will tell us that hitler was misunderstood. look up the history of the 20s and 30s and europe and as you can see or read it did not happen in a new york minute exactly the same way it is coming to your country but you are not willing to see it ... up to the time ... luckily i am not on the right of your border otherwise you would aksed for my arrest or (d)reportation like some others as wrote here ...

just a matter of time and some will open their eyes and even see the light and they will start to cry that nobody told them ...
