Fundamentally, the flu vaccine is determined for the west by epidemiological evidence in the far East at about this time…

So mostly Chinese data, but also Vietnamese, Indonesia, etc.

It is kind of a crap shoot. Some years the vaccines are a good match for what shows up here, other years they are not.

Essentially the WHO meeting is an international agreement on what strains the folks are going to make the vaccine for, and usually it’s a choice of about 4.

I’m not a big fan of WHO because they have gotten into items that are not based in scientific biology more and more.
