There’s a guy stuck on the Canadian side right now, lived and worked on the American side for 40 years on a green card. American wife, five American kids. He said he just never bothered getting U.S. citizenship, he was just used to us being ‘all the same’.

They came up to New Brunswick for their annual visit to family but got snagged at the border when returning home - on a long since resolved pot possession charge from 18 years ago. Wife and kids went home, but he was told if he tries to enter again he’ll be detained.

I’d be damn careful leaving the U.S. if I lived there, the door might slam shut behind you.

Different lifestyles with different people (nationalities) creates such situations.

For example Asians (India/Pakistan) are similar to the Mexicans who will be content living in semi-squalid conditions but far better than what they have at home, their eating habits are a far cry to what Westerners demand and as long as they have a full belly and money in hand, are quite content.
