Does anyone see that? Does anyone see the significance? Even a felony conviction is rationalized, grossly. It would be the same if all his indictments went to trial and resulted in convictions. He can lie, not just with impunity, but with positive results in polls and in money. Now, suppose he's elected? Does anyone think GOPers will pivot to caring about the constitution, rule of law, and other founding principles when Trump trashes it all, implements Project 2025, runs amuck, commits crimes while under POTUS protection? Impeach him? https://youtu.be/PyyTjZWt8wQ?si=PWBLz-G0YgUFx92r ‘There is no line’: Speaker Johnson, Jim Jordan and others push back against Trump conviction ************* Degenerate 1:1 1 Then Trump said, "Let Us re-make a Nation in MY Image, after My likeness, to rule over everything in the Nation, and over all the earth itself and every creature that crawls upon it". Convicted felon, rapist, philanderer, tax fraudster, charity fraudster, thief of classified documents, life long serial liar, abortionist, narcissist, etc., and only 15% of GOP voters think he should quit. And that 15% will still vote for him. Deplorable is too gentle a word for them.

It's dumfounding. You see posters right here resorting to spurious arguments and dubious factual recitations to defend this contemptible man. If you're going to make shit up, at least do it for a decent human being. I've lost every ounce of respect I ever had for the Republican party. I don't know how the bastards sleep at night.

The shameless can't be shamed or feel shame. They will always rationalize what happening as something outside themselves. Does anyone know why Nixon resigned? He knew what he did, and he knew that the masses knew too. He felt shame. Trump also knows what he did and practically anyone with any sense at all knows too. I'm talking about far more than the NY trial/verdict. The difference in Trump and Nixon is that Trump is shameless. He has no conscience. He's amoral. That's how toxic his narcissism is. Yet his followers think he loves the country, has been born again, etc. The only things Trump loves now is himself, money and power, and maybe his children and grandchildren. Maybe when he could get it up, he loved pussy. God, law, country and patriotism are only ideas or tools to be used in manipulation. It takes a lot of mental gymnastics to rationalize that Trump(ism) is good. Conservatives have some policies/agendas that could be deemed good, but in the balance, when these stunts in support of Trump are pulled out of the fiction hat, what good there is in the ideology seems very pale and lame. All along, basically, in part due to some who post herein who seem reasonable, I figured that the GOP, conservatives as a group, had a pivot point when the magnitude of Trump's corruption, the reality of it and consequences, would cause a shift away, if not a mass exit, from Trumpism. That has proven to be a case of giving too much credit. The only path is to double-down in support. They have crossed the Rubicon. Now they are claiming that they are righteous about saving democracy, the constitution, the rule of law from the progressives who weaponized the rule of law against Trump politically. They make those claims, farcically and ironically when it's clear that they would never prosecute or impeach Trump. Surprised? It’s a story as old as history itself. “The story The Boy Who Cried Wolf is a fable that dates back to Classical times. It was part of the collection of tales by Aesop, a storyteller from ancient Greece who lived between 620 and 560 BCE.” I’m not debating guilt or innocence in this case, you say he’s guilty, so be it. But to feign outrage when folks don’t buy it is to disregard thousands of years of collective wisdom. We’re all familiar with the fable because it’s relevant and a lesson we strive to teach children. Gloat and cheer, stroke one another all you want, but don’t be surprised folks don’t care you finally seen a wolf.

That's a good one - post, a bit surprising. But it makes sense. It adds perspective. To use some of your words - I don't think outrage is being feigned on either side. It is possible/probable that Fox, Newsmax, etc. are feigning. From my perspective it's difficult to believe they don't know better, but instead know exactly what they are doing, and don't care about right and wrong and consequences for the country, constitution, rule of law, lives, etc. Thousands of years of Collective wisdom??? How about Collective Wisdom from: June 21, 1788 Constitution of the United States Created September 17, 1787 Presented September 28, 1787 Ratified June 21, 1788 (9 of 13 states) Date effective March 4, 1789 I don't see any gloating and cheering; stoking yes. I see psychological sobriety and/vs intoxication, regarding reality and trajectory. Some of us saw the Wolf long ago, about the time Trump entered the pasture. It has grown long of fang, well fed, prospered and multiplied. The surprise is not the Wolf, but the fangs instead. The Founders Cried Wolf. They saw the Wolf. They knew his character and affect. The Wolf is always already with us, if not us. Trump(ism) represents the American Founders’ nightmare. https://www.wsj.com/articles/t...opwebshare_permalink A key concern of James Madison and Alexander Hamilton was that demagogues would incite mobs and factions to defy the rule of law, overturn free and fair elections and undermine American democracy. “The only path to a subversion of the republican system of the Country is, by flattering the prejudices of the people, and exciting their jealousies and apprehensions, to throw affairs into confusion, and bring on civil commotion,” Alexander Hamilton wrote in 1790. “When a man unprincipled in private life, desperate in his fortune, bold in his temper…is seen to mount the hobby horse of popularity,” Hamilton warned, “he may ‘ride the storm and direct the whirlwind.’” The Founders designed a constitutional system to prevent demagogues from sowing confusion and mob violence in precisely this way. =================================================== That is why Trump's attacks and lies on/about the judicial system and institutions is so dangerous. It's not just that he attacks, but so many are buying it. ================================================== If you want to go back thousands of years, into fables, the Bible speaks of the Wolf. He's called the anti-christ. ************* Degenerate 1:1 1 Then Trump said, "Let Us re-make a Nation in MY Image, after My likeness, to rule over everything in the Nation, and over all the earth itself and every creature that crawls upon it".
