MJinesKudos to the Brits
They seem to have the best grasp on how to play Trump. They feed his ego, then do things that send a clear message that we intend to do exactly what we want regardless of you and your desires, but do the latter in a way leaves him hanging on a limb. Well played mates.
Donald Trump 'goes cool' on Britain after King Charles meets Zelensky at Sandringham
Story by Shaun Wilson
Evening Standard
Donald Trump is reported to have "gone cool" on Britain after King Charles welcomed Volodymyr Zelensky to his Sandringham estate.
Diplomatic sources in Washington revealed the US President's displeasure at seeing photographs of the King warmly shaking hands with the Ukrainian leader, reportedly making Trump feel "less special" about his own forthcoming state invitation to Britain.
In response, Trump's allies were informed it would be "inappropriate" for the UK government to instruct the King not to meet Zelensky, according to the Daily Mail.
Zelensky met King Charles on Sunday, March 2, just days after Sir Keir Starmer delivered the monarch's official invitation to Trump. At the time, the US president had responded positively, describing King Charles as "a wonderful man."
The strong show of solidarity between Britain and Ukraine contrasted sharply with Zelensky’s recent treatment in the Oval Office, where Trump and vice president JD Vance had criticised him over a perceived lack of gratitude for US support in Ukraine’s ongoing war with Russia.
On Monday, King Charles also hosted Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, another leader currently at odds with Trump after the US president announced 25 per cent tariffs on imports from Canada.
Responding to media enquiries, Number 10 denied any knowledge of claims that Trump had reacted negatively to the royal engagements. They insisted he had spoken to Starmer on Monday, emphasising the "positive engagement" between the two leaders.
However, a well-placed source told the Mail: "Things definitely went a bit cool in Washington after Sandringham. We told them that the King makes his own decisions about who he meets."
Mr Zelensky arrived at Sandringham in Norfolk by military helicopter after attending a defence summit of European leaders hosted by the Prime Minister.
Sources stressed that Zelensky's meeting with the King had been planned for some time and was not a reaction to tensions at the Oval Office.
The King previously met Zelensky during the Ukrainian leader’s earlier UK visit in February 2023, when he was reported to have said: "We've all been worried about you and thinking about your country for so long."
A Government spokesman said: “We do not recognise these reports. We have been unequivocal about the importance of the US as an ally of the UK.
“No two countries are as closely aligned as ours on economic, defence, security and intelligence interests, and we share deep historic and cultural ties.
“We will continue to work hand-in-hand and look forward to welcoming President Trump.”

You have different opinion and bam…you banned, ostracized, hounded, belittled, threatened etc
Never been lost, just confused here and there for month or two
Zelensky is the leader of an independent state currently under attack by Russia and with whom we have a close relationship. Of course he should meet Charlie if he wants to.
When Trump arrives we will be polite and welcoming to the head of sate of our close ally, although doubtless he will bring his ridiculous motorcade with him, however much we feel his current behaviour is inappropriate.

Yes.
Trouble is Starmer and his commie government has already added more debt in a couple of months, and bankrupt so many people and institutions, they won't be any taxes collected to pay it!

I would have predicted the Little Lord of Louisville would think so.

Me, not so much.

Well, you know,...... Women!
I've made a couple of pretty bad decisions.
Seems like Harry had some pretty good influences in his mom and grandparents. Harrys brother and sister in law seem upright.
We know that some kids just go rogue. "The prodigal son".
I've long appreciated the sense of or commitment to duty in people and some of the royal family have been exemplary.
I don't think Harry has that sense.

I don't keep up but didn't his family disapprove of the wife and basically booted him out? Also, as somebody else pointed out, didn't he pull a couple tours in AFghanistan after serving in the military for an extended period of time?

I don't follow all the crap in the media about them. One thing I'm certain of - id ever swap places with any one of them, however much you paid me. I can't think of anything worse than a life under the spotlight with your every move and decision the subject of endless speculation.
To be honest im somewhat puzzled why there is such a focus on our royal family. Lots of European countries have royal families, why are ours special?

I'm no MAGAt, but they sure had the wool pulled over their eyes.
Good summary.

There's been lots of attention for centuries don't you think? We knew all about King George from our 1700's whathaveyou.
"Empress of India".
The British Empire has always had a story and a flair about it .
