Trump Had No Duty to Support the Constitution, Says Trump

In the lawsuit seeking to disqualify Trump from the 2024 ballot in Colorado Trump, through his lawyers, has offered an interesting defense:

The Insurrection Clause of the amendment prohibits those who have "engaged in insurrection" against the United States from holding a civil, military, or elected office without unless a two-thirds majority of the House and Senate approve.

But Trump's lawyers are arguing that the specific language of the Constitution argues that this requirement only applies to people in offices who are bound to "support" the Constitution — and the presidency is not one of those offices.

I have said this was President Trump’s greatest failure.

He was Commander in Chief with some ability to mobilize the DC Guard to defend Congress, the physical Capital, and the election.

He as President had a moral obligation under his oath to provide a peaceful transition of power.

He not only failed. He refused.

If President Obama had done what President Trump did on the lead up and day of Jan 6 with Antifa or BLM to deny President Trump’s ascent to power for HRC, the Dr. Easters and JTEXs would be talking about high treason.
