Now, Saeed. The libs are convinced this guy was an ultra right wing fascist who killed Kirk because he wasn’t fascist enough…

Don’t bogart their fantasy.

The trans person is assisted in bringing the suspected killer to law enforcement.

There is no reporting that the trans person conspired, coordinated, or directed this killing.

Who cares!

Blaming trans people for this is more stupid than blaming gun owners when someone shoots another.

Yeah I agree. This is not and what the trans debate should be about.

The only real issue that needs a conclusion is the subjects where trans rights and equalities affect biological women's rights and equalities.

Absolutely right.

They can live their lives as anyone else.

Except pretend to be women!

That the killer was in a relationship with a trans individual speaks against him being an ultra right wing nut.

Log cabin republicans? They are rather to the left of most of the GOP. You don’t hear them saying Trump isn’t going far enough, do you?

His family was quite conservative. So? I’ve seen some very lefty types whose rest of the family are conservative, and seen some very conservative folks whose families are very left wing.

That this person and the family turned him in does speak well of them. They probably wanted him to be peaceably taken in instead of having a gunfight to arrest him.

This whole thread, other than those following Shankspony’s line of thought, is the equivalent of saying, “The murdered knew people.”

I agree with Shanks and you, except I think they have the right to pretend to be women if they wish. As Shanks says, so long as they don't disadvantage natural women.

I really don't give a shit what the killer's politics were. How are his thoughts relevant? Do you support thought crimes...even if they aren't crimes?

Likewise, I don't care about his birthmarks, his hobbies, his baseball card collection, and a thousand other things about him.

Great, except a bunch of your fellow travelers are saying that the guy was a conservative and he killed Kirk for not being conservative enough.

The killers politics are relevant with regards to motive. If a drunk shoots a guy who he is robbing who happens to be a politician, its a murder. If the guy is a political nut and kills a politician because he's a opposing politician, its an assassination and is political violence.

The system treats one crime as being exponentially worse than the other.

You are a lawyer, you know that.

There are conservative gay people. And I'm not one who endorsed the "not conservative enough" theory.

"Fellow travelers"? Are you calling me a Communist? None of my fellow Commies would travel with me, I expect. lol

I'll take your word on motive, I guess. I never practiced criminal law.

Yes, there are conservatives gay folks- I know some.

Fellow travelers is referring to democrats, and yes, not all of them buy into that the shooter was a conservative, probably not even most of the ones claiming the theory really believe it.

It’s just a politically useful fantasy, thus the comment to Saeed.

However, it isn’t “just a murder” it was a murder with a political intent to it.

The same people who call you a communist called President Theadore Roosevelt a socialist. We are in better company than the Texas Contingent.

What I say next is a sad commentary on the current place politics is at.

I rationalise that the contacts of the shooter have a left wing connection, because the head of the FBI is intimating that. I dont think he would be saying anything at all if they were turning up right wing links. Thats very concerning that politics ate the highest level has become that.

But too much is made of it. Yes it's acceptable to use it as a commentary on the overall polarisation of politics. I think thats important. But what side, or who this dumb inept kid chooses to follow is meaningless. He wasn't using a rational brain to make these decision. We need to focus on why young people from any walk of life feel this is a viable option.

I really worry, because dangerous actions and ideas spread in concerning times. I fear some young person in my country will copy this.

The roommate may have well been a transgender, but I would like to see the evidence. As far as I know, he’s been pretty much under wrapped.

I agree Doug. So far, all we have is a narrative from a bunch of folks with an incentive to spin a narrative. I do not trust anyone in this Administration to be honest and forthright. Patel’s handling of the investigation has been abysmal and his press statements have been replete with inconsistencies.

Yes, people who want to draw parallels or evoke Communism do refer to Democrats as fellow travelers.

By a century of history, "fellow travelers" has primarily referred to Communists.

Hi Doug,
Good to see you are still kicking.

You have never told me…did you get your watch shop back? The one which closed in the downtown Portland area due to ANTIFA violence and rioting?
