Yea Bill. I think you're right. How stupid can it get? I mean, thinking that lame attack is not going to backfire. ************* Real conservatives aren't radicalized. That's true, but I think it's for the possibility that girls might have a need to use the boys' restroom. Give me a home where the buffalo roam and I'll show you a house full of buffalo shit.

What has the F’ing world come to. But never fear! Joshua will show up ASAP and tell us how normal this is and how we are so much better off with all the progressive thought processes than we were 50 years ago. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ J. My point with all the history shown below is that all "progressive" movement in society and law was long coming, hard fought and sometimes bipartisan. And the parties, dem and GOP, morphed along the way. The hard-core Dems of the old south are now Republicans, and republicans are no longer the party of Lincoln. "Progress", socially and culturally is not what the GOP is about today. ========================================== January 1, 1863 President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation on January 1, 1863, as the nation approached its third year of bloody civil war. The proclamation declared "that all persons held as slaves" within the rebellious states "are, and henceforward shall be free." The 19th Amendment makes it illegal to deny the right to vote to any citizen based on their sex, which effectively granted women the right to vote. It was first introduced to Congress in 1878 and was finally certified 42 years later in 1920. The Amendment’s official certification date is August 26; however, it’s not uncommon for the Amendment to also be celebrated on August 18th — the anniversary of when Tennessee ratified it. Did the 19th Amendment enable all women the right to vote? On paper, the Amendment protected discrimination against all women, but in practice, it only gave white women the right to vote. Black women, Native American women, Asian American women, and women from other racial and ethnic minority groups were discriminated against for 45 more years until the passage of The Voting Rights Act of 1965 (VRA). The VRA afforded crucial protections to Black, Indigenous, and Women of Color (BIWOC) voters. And, women with disabilities only gained protections in 1990 with the Americans with Disabilities Act. ========================================= https://foxx.house.gov/news/do...px?DocumentID=399971 On May 21, 1919, an Illinois Republican by the name of James Mann reintroduced the 19th Amendment in the House of Representatives and it passed by a vote of 304 to 89. It was a decisive victory, and the split among Democrats and Republicans was staggering. In all, over 200 Republicans voted in favor of the 19th Amendment, while only 102 Democrats voted alongside them. Subsequently, on June 4, 1919, the 19th Amendment passed the Senate by a vote of 56 to 25. Once again, the split among Democrats and Republicans was notable: eighty-two percent of Republicans voted in favor of the amendment while only forty-one percent of their Democrat colleagues concurred. The very next year in March of 1920, 36 states ratified the 19th Amendment, and the infighting within state legislatures was steadily approaching a crescendo. Many Democrat-controlled legislatures opposed ratification, and out of those 36 states that ratified, 26 were Republican. Following ratification, over eight million women voted in the November presidential election that same year. What was the result? A 26.2 percentage-point victory for Warren G. Harding, a proud Ohio Republican who was a staunch advocate for women’s suffrage. This is not a mere coincidence; it was a direct reflection of how Republicans helped lead the charge for women’s rights. =================================================== https://www.senate.gov/artandh...oting_Rights_Act.htm The Senate Passes the Voting Rights Act August 4, 1965 Once the bill emerged from the Judiciary Committee, it faced a filibuster on the Senate floor. On May 25, the Senate mustered the necessary two-thirds vote and achieved cloture by a margin of 70 to 30. The next day, the bill passed 77 to 19. Then it went to the House, where the Republican leadership offered a substitute. When southern Democrats endorsed this substitute as less objectionable, they caused moderate Republicans to bolt, and the substitute failed. Instead, the House passed the stronger bill that had been reported from the House Judiciary Committee. A conference committee reconciled the House and Senate versions, which both bodies adopted. ================================================== In April 1988, in the 100th Congress, Senator Lowell Weicker (R) of Connecticut and Senator Tom Harkin (D) of Iowa introduced the legislation envisioned by the National Council on Disabilities: S. 2345, the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1988. S. 2345 included an expansive civil rights policy. ================================================= https://wapo.st/46Gji4h What we get wrong about the Southern strategy It took much longer — and went much further — than we think. Most Americans have heard the story of the “Southern strategy”: The Republican Party, in the wake of the civil rights movement, decided to court Southern white voters by capitalizing on their racial fears. Republican presidential candidate Barry Goldwater first wielded this strategy in 1964 and Richard Nixon perfected it in 1968 and 1972, turning the solidly Democratic South into a bastion of Republicanism. ************* Real conservatives aren't radicalized. True, but if the girls' restrooom is out of order for cleaning or other reason you put a guard at the door to keep boys OUT until the gal/s get their business done. Like Lily says, it's not complicated. I suppose like the saying about carrying a gun, better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. When I was among the employed the maintenance staff would say that women and their feminine needs were the worst thing to ever happen to a restroom. One last edit. Since I don't know and don't want to Google it I'm merely guessing as to why they included male restrooms. Give me a home where the buffalo roam and I'll show you a house full of buffalo shit.
