Trump was the chief executive on 1/6/20.

He should have done a better job. As president he could have.

While I agree Lane that others could have stepped up and taken responsibility to stop the riots, it still was ultimately his responsibility under the law and the constitution.

He failed.

That allowed a cascade of other bad decisions to result in the debacle that was 1/6.

I don’t agree with those that say it was an insurrection. Sure there were a few who engaged in sedition and have been charged and some sentenced.

The democrats have pushed the rubric that it was an insurrection to the point where there was public backlash against them.

The republicans can cause the same thing against themselves by calling it nothing and pardoning folks who did riot and obstruct the change of power and denying that anything happened.

You have never denied there were riots and bad behavior… but others, including Trump, have minimized what happened.

Those rioters were not patriots or “good people” but rather at best (for them) useful idiots who didn’t stop and think what they were doing and that it was against the law.

At worst, they were deliberately obstructing the over 200 year history of peaceful exchange of power in this great nation.

Let’s not behave like the democrats.
