Maybe we should stop selling bombs. Make people do what they have to do, but see it plain with their own eyes.

As I said elsewhere, we have armed the globe with sub or just less than superpower armaments and now we face them no matter which way we turn.

We are way over due to stop participating in the global arms trade.

politically and geopolotically make sense but on the economic side that will be very hard to swallow ...

I don't mean this to sound smartass at all, I think we can come up with something else to manufacture.

"Swords to plowshares"?

Japan and other powerhouses build economy automobiles and other transportation the sell around the globe.

Honestly, we could build civilian use tractors , airplanes, boats and ships, buildings and bridges that have a whole lot better purpose in Botswana or Pakistan than our rifles and bombs do.

of course you can but i doubt this is the actual choice but you will be competing with china on many items and then you will need to fix the little boeing thing ... it is a very good spirit you but as of today that is not where the world is leading and on that is it not your fault. but it will be hard to as well because of your new ally: imagine if 6 months ago i was mocking the idea that usa will be buddy with russia and putin ... and that you will let done your best ally and neighbour because of a tariffs war negociated by his own supreme leader in his time on trump 1.0 ...

Oh I doubt it more than you.

But we don't need to fix Boeing or anyone else. Theres no end to innovators in the US. I'm dimly aware of several smaller manufacturers of smaller and unique aircraft, autos and marine transport. The minds we employ to create new dooms day weapons can actually be tasked with creating live another day implements.

But the world and especially my nation seems to be steam rolling towards amplified factionalism, fringe lunacy and civil hostilities. Wouldn't it be funny to see a segment of America "break away" or leave the "Old World" to flee their oppressive rulers and seek a new world free from previous foreign entanglements?
