The Kiwis just lost another three troops in Bamiyan, Afghanistan. They give their comrades a warriors' send off.

Or me. I assume they performed the Haka!
Glad you posted. Many Americans think they are the only country with troops over there!
Honestly, I am not sure it is worth the effort, or the treasure!
Peter.

This is an old event. Back in 2012 I believe. One guy was ex SAS, hence the sniper in the ghillie suit, and I believe that one was a woman. Still, a very moving Haka.

Indeed it was a moving Haka. When fellow warriors die, I share the feeling projected in this ceremony.

One never knows if some action was worth "it" or not since we don't get to see how things would have gone without the action. So we honor those that paid the cost and hope that history will show its value.

It is NEVER worth it when your loved one is involved. Not exactly along the same but damned close, the words of Stan Rogers,"Causes are ashes when children are slain."

Never mistake motion for action.

Thank God that wasn't the prevailing sentiment during WW2 or you'd be speaking German.
They were interviewing the mother who lost 7 sons in WW2. And they asked her how did she think the mothers felt whose sons had run away or by one means of another avoided service? She said, I'm sure they love their sons, but I not only love my sons, I am proud of them.
