carpetman1Hybrid Grass
I had seen St Augustine grass in sod but not Bermuda grass until couple years ago. Always grew Bermuda grass from seed. So I did my lawn in the Bermuda sod. An armadillo dug up a portion and I thought get some seed and re-do that area. Then learned that the sodded Bermuda is hybrid and you can't get seed. How do they grow it, if there are no seeds?

customboltVery very interesting post Ty.
I can go back to 1960. My dad bought a new house at 465 Milton Ave. in Las Cruces, New Mexico. It had no yard of course.
He "hired" a local crew of wetbacks, which consisted of my mother, me, my two brothers, and my sister. The six of us "sprigged" the front and back yard. I swore if he ever bought another new house, I was leaving home.
I think that "sprigging" project is why I have back problems 59 years later.

NormanConquestI can relate. I sprigged the 2.5 acres at the front of my property but that was years ago,I also dug all the ditches for the electric + water lines. That was a long time ago,I could'nt do it today.
