I hadn't given much thought to the age of my boots. They are still in great condition, because after each hard use, I always cleaned them and recoated with the stuff the military used to issue for treating leather.
I have used these boots for several wilderness elk hunts, bird hunts, deer hunting, working my farm and every other activity I do when I expect to need good foot wear.

About 25 years ago I thought these old boots would need replacing, so I purchased a new pair. That new pair are still hardly used and barely broken in, but are ready if and when my old boots finally wear out.

Old boots, once broken in are so comfortable, it's hard to immagine the difficulties that breaking in a new pair will cause.

Anyone else have such good luck with their boots?

Same here, waffle stompers made of real leather. Have lighter boots, but there still is a place for these.

I would like to offer one observation. I have purchased multiple custom made leather boots from Russell Moccasin. I have too date never had to take them through a break in period.
Wearing new boots to the elk mountains for 2 weeks has never been a problem. Yes, I take backup boots just in case, but am blessed that their boots fit and wear wonderfully.

I wish I had good luck with boots... feet are half size different and 4E with a very prominent outside bone. Never had a pair of decent hunting boots fit well at all. Crammed toe boxes and sloppy heels. Dunno...I must have been made from leftovers...

My boots are over 40 years old. Had them rebuilt some years ago. Look like they will last until I'm too old or infirm to hunt.

If not too cold, I am still using LL Bean Guide Boots I bought in 1977. 41 years and still going. If cold, I have a 10 year old pair of insulated Rocky's.

While working wearing boots every day I would HAVE to replace them every 3 years Red wings, Danners, Rocky's, Chippewa's I tried them all.

I had a uniform allowance so I brought top end boots.

When I worked a drill rig maybe a year in the wet and muck. Same for the other guys we were always looking for a boot that would last.

The only kind of old boots I have are only worn on back packing trips. Even now I am looking at replacing them because the soles are mostly shot.

My LL bean guide boots worn the soles off of them in less then 3 years of hard grouse hunting.
