An island gets its living from tourism. Things have been very bad.

One day a wealthy tourist arrives and goes to the hotel. The owner takes $100 deposit and tells him to look around as all rooms are available.

The hotel owner then runs down to the plumber to pay him the $100 he owes him. Then the plumber runs down to the motor mechanic and pays him the $100 he owes him. The motor mechanic then runs down to the prostitute to pay her the $100 he owes her. The prostitute then runs to the hotel and pays the owner the $100 she owes him for a room.

The tourist comes back down to reception and tells the owner he is not interested and the owner gives him back his $100 deposit.

And that's what we call successful economics.

May be we should remind the politicians of this?
