Who fueled the slave trade
This is a very interesting graphic that provides a lot of information that I'm sure you didn't know, unless you are a
serious history buff.

It's just as important to remember how the slaves started on their journey. Wasn't the Whites who captured them for the market, but their own kind, aided by Arab Middlemen.

Indeed, no human being has yet lived under conditions which, considering the prevailing climates of the past, can be regarded as normal. John E Pfeiffer, The Emergence of Man

Very true, I did not know the US played such a small part in the slave trade compared to South America. I wonder if their slave descendent population stirs the pot in similar fashion to ours.

South America was populated differently. Most slaves were male as women and produced children were liabilities compared to production by males. Male slaves were worked until death which at some point was as soon as they could no longer produce. North America, of course, had families.

Another aspect of all this is who was the owners of the slave ships; who profited from this trade:- New England, not the South.

Another example of "the winners get to write history."
Anyone that has ever read history knows that Lincoln did not free the slaves.

Interestingly, the article doesn't mention that one part of North America where slaves were shipped was Florida which was a Spanish colony until 1819.
I have read that Spanish Florida had more slaves than did the British colonies at the time.

The Spaniards annoyed the British for awhile by refusing to return escaped slaves. Native Americans had their own versions of slavery as well.
