mousegun1Did Jeff Cooper have an accidental discharge at the 2000 S O F Convention in Reno?

The SpecialistDon't know bout that.
But it's a NEGLIGENT Discharge, AD implies no fault we should stop using that term.

mousegun1AD -ND- Premature Ejectifcation- whatever, I wanted to know about the incident

meteAD implies something like a part breakage not inticipated by excess wear etc.Everything else is ND.
My personal experience with shooters who have an ND is they automatically say 'it just went off all by itself !' A throwback to their childhood I think !
Haven't heard of problems with Cooper.

DuggaBoyeHave never heard anything about it, through the Gunsite alum grapevine.
You might ask Clint Smith--
if it happened - he will know.

I had one in 1970, but I think the statute of limitations has run out. Nobody cared then, either.

Rick RThere were hints and rumors about this during the early 000's. A quick Google brought up this:
http://www.accessmylibrary.com...mary_0286-584985_ITM"An accidental discharge with a 308 Steyr Scout was fired in the midst of Jeff Cooper's seminar on the Scout rifle concept at the Palace Station casino in Los Vegas during the recent Soldier Of Fortune convention.
"It was loud," said a witness "I mean really loud-- a 308 in a small room like that".
According to witnesses, Cooper had concluded his presentation and quite a few attendees were crowded around the podium to ask questions and examine on actual Steyr Scout Cooper's personal rifle that he had brought to display. The rifle was unloaded, however, there was a loaded magazine in the rifles stock A ... "
I didn't bother to get the rest of the article, you can if you so choose.

MyNameIsEarlWho cares it happens to the best of us. It happened to me when I was 20. Showing off and put my finger where it should not have been. Luckily I obeyed the rule of muzzle downrange and only my wits and pride were injured. I guarantee it will not happen again. But back to my point, who cares

IowanicWell, someone cared enough to ask the question.
Such can happen to anyone, true enough.

Seriously Jeff Cooper passed away a few years ago and you are so bored you have to go dig stuff like this up on him. Let him rest in peace!
If this did or did not occur will it some how have a bearing on your life?
Or does it just make you feel better knowing your are not the only one that has had one?
I had one in April 1986 if that makes you feel any better.
