Norman ConquestAny fireplace/chimney guys here?
I agree, I have heated that way for many years, until recently, but still have my stove installed. I always cut my own wood, so had no idea of what folks paid for it now. I was told, the other day, that the current going price was $750.00 a cord! That is out of sight, but then again these days, so is a can of beans. Without going too far into the political, we have to get the dems out of office so that the American public can survive.

p dog shooterWhen the power went out last week in northern Wis.
Those of us that had wood heat. Were sitting well off.
I heard a lot of people worry about their pipes freezing.
I offered several people the opportunity to come to my place.
I visited several elderly neighbors checking on them. People in their 80's not just late 60's like me.

I just checked wood prices around 80 dollars a loggers cord 4'x4'x8'if one buys a whole truck load 10 to 12 cords.
That would last two to 3 years.
80 to 100 dollars plus for a face cord cut and split 4'x8'x16". Our oak pulp market crashed because the mill that used most of it shut down.
I saw a lot of oak pulp sitting in piles in the woods.

Aspen Hill AdventuresJust finishing going through an unusual and nasty cold spell here in the Ozarks. Despite having my well house heated it all froze. The -35 wind chills with sustained brutal winds were too much for the system. This morning I have water inside the house again.
It's 9F this morning and hopefully this will move out soon. I have burned a ton of wood already for this winter. More than usual so far!

Norman ConquestAnn, I hope you still have an adequate supply to see you through the winter months. Between the cold/wood issue + the well issue you have your hands full.

No. Still cutting wood. After a horrid very hot summer and now a very cold fall and winter, back pain and all I am behind but should do well. Things have warmed back up and I hope to get another cord brought up to the house. I also try to get a jump on the next season's wood needs by downing desired trees on good winter days.
