Saw an article in I think it was American Handgunner about the rock cliff carving of Robert E. Lee,Jefferson Davis,+ Stonewall Jackson somewhere here in the south.Well.it seems that the PC police want to dynamite the cliff face because it might offend some poor blacks.Then to add insult to injury,they proposed to leave the carving provided they carve a new3 one in front that depicts 2 rappers w/hats backward in a cadillac.Anyone else heard of this B.S.?

I don't know about the rappers in a Cadillac (sounds like BS) but the bas relief carvings to which you refer are on Stone Mountain, in Stone Mountain Park in Atlanta. Been there for years. There was (probably no more) a laser show at night with some of Elvis' songs being played.

Google "Stone Mountain Park" and you'll be able to see the truly impressive carvings--unless you're a liberal, snowflake or offended group member--then I guess you'd be horrified and traumatized.

Thanks Griz,great info.I have no truck with the Klan or any other hate group. My exs grandfather stood them off at the door in the 30's because he was an Irish Catholic.This is heritage,these carvings ,just like all the statues that are being removed here in the south.In any Texas county seat you will find a confederate soldiers statue facing south.(on a similar note,until recently,the 4 sided clock tower would never give the northern view the right time;yep,never give the yankees the time of day.)I was a history major + anything like this just breaks my heart.How much destruction did Landa do when destroying the Aztecs for the catholic church?What did we as a people lose there?I have always been more horrifyde by the glee on the faces of the book burners in 30's Berlin than any photos of the holocaust.When desert storm 2 went about,my 1st concern was for my son who was one of the first boots on the ground.My next concern was the total trashing of the museums. I try to not be a Pollyanna but truly there are some things that should be held inviolate for the benefit of future generations. (Don't get me started on today's H.S. history books!)

Just for the sake of clarity,I would like to add that Pres. U.S. Grant made the statement that NO ONE could graduate from West Point academy w/ no demerits;because HE did'nt. The ONLY plebe that graduated W/no demerits was Robert E. Lee.

I have been finding it hard how to reply to some peoples misunderstanding of my statement. I KNOW that the holocaust was a true +real travesty to say the least;that was NOT what I was talking about.My point was the destruction of history + knowledge due to book burnings.As a bibliophile there is not many sins that can compare.BTW,in 1962 I had the "privledge" of visiting Dachau;it still smelled like dead tissue.But that is not the issue that I commented on.We know it was a total horror but for me the total destruction of intellect weighs heavy on my soul.I did not think that this was a voting issue about my opinions on what desturbs me most.Some smaller minds concentrate on the miniscule while avoiding what was ACTUALLY SAID + INTENDED.
