John A.Man, I loves me some German!! For me, it's a very "cool" sounding and fun language, both to speak and to listen to.
Who else brings you words like "Mundungsgeschwindigkeit?" (muzzle velocity), and
"Fliegerabwehrkanone" (FLAK: anti-aircraft cannon)?
I once asked a military German linguist what the longest German word was, that he knew...
"Aufeinanderfolgendezusammengefästesfeuer."
(Multi-barreled Flak gun).
Can you imagine trying to play Scrabble in German??

Not for nothing is there a bumper sticker that says "I SPEAK GERMAN -- What's YOUR super-power?"

NormanConquestYears ago P.O. Ackley designed a "joke cartridge" of necking down a 300 WM if I remember correctly to a .22 + called it the .22 eargesplichenloudnboomer.
My son is getting his Ph.D. in German. For the life of me I don't know how he does it. In college, I couldn't understand Kant in English, he's studied Kant in German.
