Up flush toilet for the basement.
The sanitary sewer line starts at six feet overhead in my basement.

I want to put a toilet in the basement.

Does anyone use or recommend an up flush toilet.

A company named Saniflo sells one.

Do you know a plumber you trust? I'm in the sheet metal business but for years I was still involved in the HVAC line as well.Nothing got so old as to go on a service call + the customer tells you that it is (take your pick) because his barber told him so.No offence to anyone here but you should talk with someone in the trade. I have found that it is cheaper in the long run.

Savage, are you planning on doing the work yourself or hiring someone?

One of the advantages to living in the middle of nowhere is I've been able to help with a couple of these installs. The official term for them is "below grade toilet install". I have no experience with the saniflow toilets, most people around here use a below ground basin with what looks to be a sump pump in them, there is a float switch on the pump and when the level rises it just pumps it up and out.
That works well for new construction but you have to cut a hole in the floor of course for the basin.

If you are planning on doing most of the work, look up a Liberty "lowpro", I suspect a person could pretty much do most all of the install except for attaching it into the sewer line and more importantly if it developed a problem it would be easier to clean out/repair.

However, if you aren't doing the work yourself but hiring out everything than I agree with Norman and start calling some local contractors and find out who has experience doing these and go with their recommendations. Also, for brands I have had good luck with Zoeller, I currently have 3 of their sump pumps in various places around here and they seem to work pretty well, though they are not cheap.

for every hour in front of the computer you should have 3 hours outside

With no comment on basement toilets (there are very few basements in Texas or Louisiana, relatively speaking), I will say that the last thing anyone wants is a sump or bilge pump failure. Usually when one fails, bad things happen in a hurry. One item(s) not to cheap out on.
