I have an old acquaintance that got in the business of buying up old barns + then milling the lumber + reselling it to the young + rich. He made quite a killing doing it. I must say that I bought over 600 board ft. of longleaf pine from him to build my stairwell on my 2nd story edition. That wood hasn't been available in over 100 years, at least not in that size. I appreciate it for what it is. I must admit that when I saw you're heading the 1st thing that came to mind was Robert Ruark's "Old Man's" statement that "Old men + old dogs smell bad."

Never mistake motion for action.

I guess I qualify, LOL. It wasn’t lumber, but tile. I paid waaay too much for the tiles that are the roof of my house as they came off a schoolhouse that was built around the First World War. I guess being a sucker for history does have a price.

Sure but so what? You can't take it with you so it is best used by those that appreciate the history. Hope that gives you comfort.
