Does stupid hurt?
I went by one of my fields this morning to see a volkswagon beetle stuck out in it.
Between the snow melt, the frost coming up out of the ground and the rain, it was a no-brainer not to go out there to blow doughnuts. To say nothing of the covercrop I put in to stop erosion the ruts will cause.
So, I figured to learn anything, it should hurt a little. I went over with a battery impact wrench and took the lug bolts out of the back tires. I would have done all tires, but the fronts were to deep in the mud to bother.
I'm sure they will be back tonight to get it out. I just wish it was within sight of my house to see them!!

Oh, that's worth setting a trail cam out at. Maybe even just stay up all night and wait for them.

I'd set up the trail cam for entertainment purposes only. I certainly wouldn't wait up and lose any sleep. I'd just take photos and the plates and make my police report. When they ask for replacement plates, there you go. Then I'd file a claim with their insurance company for your property damage.

A few years ago I walked down to my gate to get the Sunday paper + there was a car there that had deliberately tryed to hit my gate but only knocked a corner post + got high centered on some rocks. I went back to the house to get a chain to chain it to my gate before called the SO. When I got back the car was gone but after calling the SO they told me it was a good thing that I didn't chain up the car because then I would be responsible. Go figure.

I couldn't have planned it any better!
Looks like the rear tires come off first thing. Dragging the back of the car smoothed out the ruts nicely. You can see where they jacked it up by the imprints in the dirt road and all the mud they cleaned out to get the wheels back on.
They even left a nice 100 ft tow cable on the side of the road. They would have needed a couple of them, and forgot one.
The only police would be the state police, the nearest barracks 35 miles away. Not that big a deal. I feel I handled it just fine. Small town, word will get around who it was by the stories. I feel it's done. I now have 10 VW lug bolts and a good tow cable to boot!

I don’t like people who are inconsiderate!

We have gate we don’t normal use on the main road, as we use another by the side road which is more convenient.

Found a big white Dodge pickup parked there blocking the way.

I put a piece of paper on it asking him not to park there gain.

A few days later, he was there again.

He put a printed card on the dashboard saying MUNICIPALLY ENGINEER!

Wrote him another note, telling him this warning number 2.

I taped this on the windscreen in front of the driver.

Got a can of red spray paint and sprayed the windscreen, making sure plenty covered the car too.

I left my phone number saying if he likes to even the score he is welcome to call.

Never heard from him!

When I was a a deputy I received a similar call.

After I arrived and was waiting for the wrecker to tow it it out.

The owner driver arrived.

He was complaining about the cost of the tow bill.

Then I explained to him the cost of fixing the fence and the ruts.

That it would be very smart of him to come up with the amount the land owner wanted.

The vehicle owner and land owner agreed on a price.

Before the vehicle was dropped off the hook it's owner paid both the land owner and wrecker operator.

More then one way to skin a cat.

Along the VW lug nuts line, I have a story from a friend of mine. He was driving down Guadalupe St. in Austin when he had a flat right out side MHMR (the nut house). There was a very narrow shoulder but he parked, jacked the beetle up, pulled the lug nuts + put them in the removed hub cap + while he was putting on his spare some guy came by too close + hit his hub cap sending the 4 lug nuts into heaven knows where. Terry is standing there cussing a blue streak when this loonie on the other side of the fence says, "Why don't you just take 1 nut off your other 3 tires + that will get you to a parts house". Terry said that was a good idea + the loonie says, "I might be crazy, but I'm not stupid."
