OldGuyPronghorn Doe with Horns
Does anyone perchance have a picture of a Pronghorn Doe With the Straight horns? I am trying to convince a friend with a doe license to target one of these, and would like to show him a picture of one. I am not talking about the "rubber" horns, but the true spikes with the beautiful hair rosette at the base. I tried to get a hunter I was guiding about 5 years ago to shoot a
Really Nice (5-6") one, but he turned her down.
I have seen a couple of these dead, but had no camera at the time. Of course, I have seen quite a few while hunting, but never when I really want one!

CrazyhorseconsultingI will have to do some digging, but my wife and I took 2 pronghorn does in Colorado, out from Craig, 4 or 5 years back, and both had horns. Not as long as you are decribing, but they did have the rosette around the bases. In fact I have killed 2 does with horns myself, but the longest of the 3 was maybe 3 inches long. The others were about 2 and just a little over 2.
It is really neat to be able to shoot a doe with horns. JMO

OldGuyThanks, if you could find a good pic, it wouild be greatly appreciated.
The 5-6" is just an educated guess looking at her from 208 (lazered) yards with a 30x spotting scope. Lets just say they were prevalent enough to see with the
nekkid eye at that range.
I have only killed a couple does myself, and they had "rubber" horns. After having skinned for a processor for two years, I have grown to hate the
STINKING things! I am so sensitive to it, that I can still taste them if they have been slow cooked in BBQ sauce for two days!
