Bison Rug
Hello,
I was just given a call from the Utah DWR that they increased the # of Henry Mountains cow bison tags, and I was in the priority position! So, I was thinking of doing a rug of the whole animal minus the hooves. What is a reasonable expectation on cost for this? As best I can tell it is done by the square foot. Thanks.

Sent you a personal message on pricing.
Picture shown is bordeless with padding and cloth back. You can also do a leather bound border with carpet back or a scalloped felt border with padding and cloth backing.

Personally I'd go flat skin and the skull separate. I was back and forth with my bison. Didn't decide until it was on the ground.

Mary,

That is a great rug. I have seen that done before (though very rarely) and love it. Someday when I shoot my Wisent, this is how I am mounting it!

Hey BigUglyMan, do you have a pic of your flatskin? I think that is what I am wanting, but I am not succeeding at finding a picture of one!

Yes, it can be done flat like a zebra rug head. Sorry, I don't have a picture to post. Here is a picture of the flattened zebra head to show the ear placement. Of course they won't be very visible anyways under the tuft of head hair. It would be priced much less than the quote I pm'd you, justanotherhunter.
Thank you for the compliments on the rug, gentlemen. Smiler

speaking from personal experience, if Mary does your rug( or her husband Chris gets involved in the process)-- YOU WILL BE WELL PLEASED!!!

I rugged everything except the hide needed for a shoulder mount and it was in the hundreds of dollars just for that portion of the rug. Glad I did it but it was not cheap.

I ended upgoing with a shoulder mount. A smarter man would have skinned the big bugger out flat. Shows what kind of masochist I am. 10.5 hours later we had him skinned and in the truck. Next one will be flat.
