I've been lucky enough to shoot an antelope in MT last week, and though it isn't a monster, I very much like the trophy and the hunt behind it. I'm looking at trying something different than the regular straight off the wall shoulder mount. Maybe a wall-pedestal set-up...? Has anybody seen some creative antelope mounts recently?

(edited: I'm beginning to worry that maybe I didn't take off enough skin for a wall pedestal, I cut behind the shoulders, but some of the things I'm seeing really reach far back...)

Do not worry too much about this. If you cut behind the shoulder you will probably be alright. The back of the form can be trimmed some if needed.

I saw a pedestal mount at a taxidermist in Great Falls a couple of weeks ago. Absolutely beautiful! I don't think he has a website, though. Tri-City Taxidermy in Great Falls, MT

I really like European Mounts for antelope, too.

I like wall pedestals, especially on pronghorn. Here's one I did for a client last year that he really liked.

Cool! Getting real close to what I had in mind. Is this a ready-made mannekin, or did you construct it specially for this mount?

Check out Joe Coombs Taxidermy Supply and work your way through the website to the antelope forms. There are several pages of forms for antelope but you'll see several styles that are regular pedestals and wall pedestals.

That should give you some ideas.

The other option is to boil the skull, the black horns on that white skull are striking. I have a bunch of them
