My taxidermist, Marc Plunkett, just sent me this little slide show of a mount he just finished. It still lacks the wood base.

i just love mounts that have a scene. they tend to tell a story. seems like so much more than just an animal. I have one with a brown bear, black bear and caribou in a scene, only trouble is that they take up a helluvalot of floor space

That's a very entertaining mount. I agree with butchloc, an action scene mount often tells a great story, unfortunately they take up a heck of a lot of space.

Did anyone see the grizzly bear with his paw in a trap on the back of Safari Magazine (I believe it was a few months back). I really liked that pose as well.

I remember when he still lived in Phoenix, many years ago, I was driving east on Tatum and saw a life size elephant on the back of an open trailer. I caught up to the truck and there was Marc and a few employees heading to a clients to drop it off. It's a sight that comically remains in my mind. Not every day one sees an elephant heading to Scottsdale!

Nice piece, but every time I see one like that I realize how old I am. Thinking of horsing around hides and altering forms of that size is almost nauseous to me these days. LOL

When I killed that mule deer Marc mounted for me, we met at one of his clients' houses here in Phx so I could give him the antlers and cape.

He was there with TWO trailers and a truck delivering a very impressive -- and HUGE -- display of two grizzlies fighting. The hunter, who owns Casters & Coasters at Metro Center, had killed them over two successive years. There was a carcass of a caribou bull lying between them.

Just guessing, but the size of the base was probably 18'x8'. It was to sit in the center of his very impressive trophy room/office that was a separate building from the house.
