EdmondFox in the freezer
Hello, Y'all!
The taxidermist is on vacation for one month. The fox is in the freezer since last weekend, is it OK to keep it there for one month at minus 21°C ?
TIA

Mary Hilliard-KruegerEdmond,
That is indeed the best place for the fox to be and one month or longer is fine as long as it is properly bagged. Put him in an as airtight plastic bag as you possibly can. Freezer burn can be a culprit on the ears and facial areas if kept in a freezer for a long period of time. One to two months will be fine with no worries for this specimen(and a fine specimen it is!)
Kindest regards,
Mary

smarterthanuIf you have a choice try not to use a frost-free freezer. They freezerburn specimans at a much higher rate of speed.

Mary Hilliard-KruegerVery good point and information to pass on about the frost free freezer. But Edmond, rest assured even in a frost free freezer, for the short period of time you are planning on storing the fox until the return of your taxidermist, the specimen will be fine. Just make sure he is bagged well.
Kind regards,
Mary
