Mine said he'd take 6 weeks for my bighorn shouldermount, which if he delivers I find pretty amazing!

...but darn...pedestal...I should have thought of that! I'm looking at the walls and I can't find a spot that combines a good view and a stud behind the gypsum...A pedestal...maybe I should give him a call and see if that option is still open.

Got a hold of my taxidermist in time! I'm going over next week with your photo and have a chat with him. But he seemed to know what I meant over the phone.



I just worry now that I might not have taken enough skin on the upper back for this option, but we'll see.

That must be a world record. My taxidermist in Texas called. My ram is ready. I took it in the end of July. He said it would be ready the end of November. He beat that by a month. Most times it takes twice as long as they say.

He must be clearing the decks for deer season.

Supposed to be a shoulder-pedestal. Should be interesting.

Do it. My son sent me a digital photo of my ram. It looks great. I'll post it if I find time, or I'll just e-mail it to you to have a look.

I never had heard of that type pedestal. I have a kudu and gemsbok floor pedestal, but a pedestal that sticks out from the wall looks neat.

Thanks for your perseverance trying to post the photo.

When I get him back out of storage in a few years I'll place him on the wall without the box.

My son said the mount looked perfect when he drove over and picked it up. I'll post particulars on the taxidermist when I get home tonight for those in the Dallas area to consider. He is actually out of Rockwall. I found him in the Yellow Pages. His work looked good. I probably saved $1,000 by not having to send the ram to Denver or elsewhere.

Really nice mount, nice posture of the sheep too. Gotta get a hold a my taxidermist...he's either too busy to pick up the phone or he has made enough money this year and he's on holiday ;-)

I'm really pleased with it. What I like is that it shows off the mass of the shoulder better than a simple shoulder mount. An early season Dall sometimes looks too dainty (thin), when in reality they are a pretty massive animal. That exposed shoulder brings the size out better.
