can anyone recommend some place in the great lakes area to get deer hides tanned at a reasonable price.

Mike I dont know where you are but the hutterites in Albert do it fairly cheaple--so I've been told.

Berlin Glove in Berlin, WI - they make all sorts of buckskin items. They used to tan hides for a nominal fee but I don't know if they still do. Here is the web link.
