Elephant Skin
I've got two HUGE panels of elephant skin, tanned a beautiful dark gray.

Does anyone know of someone who would take some of this stuff and make a pair of ladies' boots?

Also, since I'll have a lot left over, what are some other ideas?

LOL, if you have a lot left over, you could always send me enough to make a belt!

Based upon current information, foret my recommendation below for Trophyhides. (SBT-8-25-12)

Indy, I had these guys make me a carry-on bag: http://www.trophyhidesleather.com/products.html

Russell Moccassin also made a pair of boots for for both my wife and me.

Find out exactly how much they need before you ship it off to them.

There are some really shady industry standards on what is acceptable for left over leather.

Ask Will. He always has products made of Elephant hide in the Classifieds.

Dick Murray made this gun case for me. He's not cheap, but he does great work and he'll listen to what you want.

I haven't had anything made by Walden & Bork, but their work looks good and I hope to use them in the future.

Did Dick use some cow leather to stiffen that rifle case or is it all elephant?

Yes, it has cow leather as a liner and then some sort of artificial fleece against the gun.

It's stiff enough that it will even stand up in a rack when the gun is out of it.

I had JB Hill make my wife and I elephant boots, belts and wallets from my Tanzania hunt. They do fantastic work. They sent me patterns and I traced out on the hide exactly where to make the cuts. They are a pleasure to work with and usually have a booth and SCI and DSC. Check them out here: www.jbhilltexas.com/ Ask for Diana.

You might want to hold off on sending anything to Trophy Hides Leather. I sent them a buffalo cape and money in May and have not been able to contact them since. Emails unanswered and telephone automatically goes to an answering machine that is full (it tells you to hang up). Internet search shows there is an eviction notice on the door, and others are pursuing refunds via their credit card companies. This company is also known as Uber Glove and Tanning Company and recently changed address and phone (Ham Lake,MN).
