Bear Mounts- Help
Have any of you had a 1/2 or 3/4 mount done of a black bear? I took a decent blackie in Idaho last month and am considering this option. He had a very large patch on the front of his chest and it seems like a good way to show this off with out the cost of a full mount. I can't say, however, that I have seen one of these.

Does anyone have some photos to share and or opinions?

Ann, I dont have any pics to share with you but a definite opinion. That is the way to do it. The taxidermist in Anchorage that did my rugs for me does a lot of these. He probably does about 300 bears a year total. Anyway, the 1/2 or 3/4 is a great mount. Besides the asthetic appeal it takes up way less space. I wont have anymore rugs done. In fact I wish I had the mount done rather than the rugs. One of the guys who hunted with us 2 trips ago had one done like this and it was awesome.

Hi Ann,

I have a black bear I took in Colorade that I'm personally mounting as a 1/2 lifesize. I'm positioning it after a Mill Creek statue I saw and will have the statue sitting nearby. The back half of the bear turns into rock . . . sounds weird but here's a link to a photo:

Good luck!

Ann.

jonas have a beautiful open mouth black bear 1/2 sized form.(3-151240 , i wont put a pic in due to copy right).

Its posed like its rearing and about to bash something/someone. Would show that patch of nicely i would imagine. You taxo could alter it to be more passive if desired.

mckenzie also have 20 or so different poses in 1/2 lifesized.

Ask you taxidermist for a look at thier catalogs or go to thier web sites for a look.

Wow, cool.....

Now I can actually get a visual until the taxidermist sends me some photos. My bear has a larger patch than even the one pictured! And that mount looks real nice.
