AndersPlease help - scull problems
I have been cleaning a kudu-scull lately. I thought I was finished. It looked clean and white after boiling/whitening (I`ve mounted a quite a few sculls earlier and have learned them normal process).
But I thought it smelled a bit. And looking more carefully inside the brain cavity I could see dirt. Using a screwdriver I managed to remove parts of the scull. It was very "spongy" inside.. I used a drill to open it up and did try to remove as much as possible. I have almost made holes some places. Then I washed it in soap water as best I could and poured peroxid over. Here`s some pictures from today. Still a bit dirty but better. And still some smell(a bit like old milk):
On the last picture you can see the dirt inside the core of the horn base. It looked pretty white before I discovered and tried the remove the last dirt, no it`s all greasy again. Looks like this last process pushed it out. It came grease out of other holes as well.
What can I do?
