craneBUGS!
In my office , at the base of a full mount montain goat, I see what look like larvae cases like a rice krispie. They are very few in number.I have fumigated the office and direct sprayed the mount several times over 6 months but still see a few. They appear to be showing up around the hooves.I called the outfit listed in SCI but they have not returned my call.In this office I have 20 other peices of taxidermy, and am obviously worried.Any ideas on what the critter is and what to do about it? Thank you, Bob Butler.

GeorgeSIt sounds like you have dermestids.

What I did when I found some on my mouflon mount was to put the mount in a large plastic bag and had an exterminator spray it with some 'Tempo SC Ultra'. I tied off the bag and left it alone for a week.
The pesticides don't always work on the pupal stage insects, so you might see them again in a few weeks. Re-apply the pesticide.

oct71If you live in a cold climate put your mount outside or in your garage for a few nights or up to a week. It will kill them and the larva.
I have beetles and thats how I kill the ones I can't jar loose in the skulls.
