ZitzfDamaged dall sheep skin repaired
Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome.
I had a customer on a grueling dall sheep hunt. They had bad weather the entire trip.On the last day he was finally able to collect this sheep. The sheep fell and rolled down the side of the mountain. The guide had to climb down and retreive the sheep. Somehow the guide misunderstood the hunter's instructions and thought he wanted a shoulder mount. In the evening when the guide returned with the meat and trophy they realized they made a mistake and that he wanted the sheep life size. The guide climbed back down the mountain the next morning and retrived the rest of the sheep skin. He brought us the two pieces. The back half was skinned like an orange peel. We sent the pieces to our tannery with instructions to handle carefully. The client wanted his sheep skin rather than a replacement skin. When the pieces returned we had to remove damaged sections of hair from the fall and sew the pieces back together before bleaching and mounting. As you can see, if you take the time and groom the animal properly during drying you can't see the seams.

John B TaxidermyFrank, I have a saying: "Good work takes time, the best takes a little longer!" I have been reciting that for YEARS!
This sheep is a prime example of my saying. EXCELLENT job, and a
fantastic save!
This picture speaks volumes to those of us that take the time to do a mount correctly without needing to be the "fastest in the industry"!
John.

Equinsu OchaThat's impressive, Frank. I wouldn't want to take that on.. Way to presevere and make a customer happy on a HARD mount!
John, we all know your stance with the time issue and most all of us agree with you, but you don't have to cast stones in every post you make on here. We get it..
