I think in the US most people don't cut the skull but leave it intact minus jawbone, more of a skull mount than a european mount.

Thats the thing about taxidermy - you can have what ever 'you' want - dont worry about anyone else. Think outside the square so to speak.

European mounts are not as common here in oz as they are in the US though.
95% of the ones i see and do have the full eye socket.

Shehuntz, I fully agree about "having what you want", but it is interesting to see that there seems bo be different traditions here. Almost all roedeer and moose I see here in Sweden have the open eye-socket. I prefer that myself, probably because I am used to it; "that's how it should look".
