Hello all,
Can anyone tell me about the Sauer action and rifle? Performance, action type, fit and finish of the rifles etc. ?

I own a Sauer 202 Europa Lux in 7x64 and I think these pictures are more explicit than a 1000 words :


These groups were shot at 100 m with several hunting loads (different bullets and loads) that the rifle likes.

I have never shot one but the ones I have had the oppurtunity to examine seemed to be made very well, much better then the Blaser R93 for instance.

Those shooters who I've spoken with that own them sware by them.

Nice rifle and it sure is a great shooter. I am almost afraid to ask this question but is the action push feed or a CRF or some hybrid of both?

Push feed, detachable (steel) magazine and interchangeable barrels (within same case head dimension - std. and mag. actions available).

I've got a Sauer 200 in 9.3x62. Had it for nearly 10 years and reckon it is just fine. Very slick & fast bolt action V E R Y accurate and never faulted. I think the 202 is even better again as it is an update model.

I bought my Sauer 200 in 6,5x57 15 years ago and am more than pleased with it. The barrel must have fired over 5000 rounds, eats anything from 85 up to 140 grains, and still with sub MOA accuracy. Action is very smooth; trigger is the best out of the box available. The only problem I had in all those years was the loss of a detachable magazine.
If I had to buy a new rifle, I would not hesitate for a second: it definitely would be a Sauer 202!

Does the 202 have forward or rearward located locking lugs?

I don't think your Sauer 200 is in any way inferior to the 202. Changes were mostly cosmetic + a new safety (200 and 202 barrels do interchange). Todd E, the Sauer 202 has forward lugs which lock directly in the barrel.

No question they're accurate and slick handling. Nice trigger and point well too. But after having a few close calls with my clients, I'm not real happy about the safety being so close to the trigger...
