Crocodile with man in its mouth.

I YouTube the video and was amazed at the amount of crocs eating humans. I was on a small canal about ten feet wide the other day and came up on a big gator that was as long as the jon boat. He was sitting on the bank in the marsh which is two and half feet higher than the water.
If he jumped on the boat it would not be fun. We get some big ones around here. Every now and then they go over to the beach. Nothing scares tourist more than an alligator in the surf. We also get rattle snakes and water moccasins on the beach. You will not see that in any of the vacation brochures.

In the USA, there are Alligators but no native crocodiles.

I did not know there were crocs in the Northern Hemisphere, but this article says there are.

Can anyone tell me where is the dividing line between Alligator territory and Crocodile territory in the Northern Hemisphere?

Crocodiles were in Florida long before Europeans made it to Florida. The American Crocodile doesn't tolerate cold weather very well, so they are limited to South Florida. A couple months ago, I saw fishing show where two guys were fishing in South Florida from kayaks. They had video of some really big crocs. One of the two fishermen got more than a little nervous after a big croc swam along side his kayak.

I grew up in South Louisiana. As a young kid, I hunted alligators with an uncle when hunting initially reopened in Louisiana in the early 1980's. My uncle had about 50 alligator tags, and we would typically fill tags in less than 10 days. Those first 5 or 6 years, we took some really big alligators. The big size of the crocodiles that I saw on the south Florida fishing show reminded me of the alligators we took in the early 1980's.

I stayed at the A'Zambezi River Lodge in Victoria Falls during a hunting trip. I think that place had three guest eaten by crocs in one tourist season. The pool was close to the River and they would crawl in for a swim. They offer some crazy tours around that place. Locals will take anyone that has the money down those rapids or to swim over to devils pool in Zambia.

Crocs = Jamaica, Cuba, So. Florida. If you see a caiman in salt water it is almost certainly a crocodile.

We saw crocodiles in the canal on the way to Whitewater Bay. The biggest one was eleven or twelve feet. Saw one alligator as well which is unusual since they don't like salt water. We were canoeing the inland waterway. Compared to the crocodiles, alligators look cuddly. Regards, Bill

A few years back I was watching Discovery channel or maybe Animal planet or some other animal show. Focus of the show was to find big crocs in the tip of Florida. Previous winter was a bad one for cold and the two chaps found an intact skeleton of a 17 footer on a river bank.

As time marches on the population of American Crocs increases, along with the size.

I do not care for animals that want to eat me.
It would be entertaining to just shoot every one seen and see if they could be removed from an area.
Are crocs considered game animals in the US?
In African countries where they eat people?

What side effects might there be from eradicating crocs in an area?

It’s interesting that the Daily Mail( Saeed’s favorite news source) says the croc was 18’ but the story repeatedly states it was 11’. A huge difference. Tabloid headline at its best… Crocs are a real challenge to hunt if it’s a large male. All 3 senses are highly tuned and it takes precise shot placement to anchor it on the spot.
