Is the NRA"s Whittinton Center a canned hunt? I apologize if I mispelled that I just heard about it word of mouth. I am researching elk hunting opportunities and this place sounded promising, but I do not want to do a canned hunt.

Also, has anyont hunted at the Whittington Center and if so how do you get to?

Thanks for the information.

Casey

I can't answer your question about whether or not it's a canned hunt, but you can go to the following web page and get a map of where it's located.

Go to the NRA website and you can request a package of information on the Whittington center. They have guided on unguided hunts.

I do not know what the requirements are to hunt there, but I think you have to be an NRA member. I do know that it is not a canned hunt. The center is too darn big for that, I think. I do think that hunting there is a bit limited as to how many can hunt in a particular year. I wouldn't mind getting to hunt there myself. Some beautiful country up that way.

Paul, I believe that you are correct in that to hunt there you need to be an NRA member. The reason I was concerned about it being a canned hunt is that they manage the game there to obtain trophy class animals. I have heard from people that this is accomplished by releasing large farm raised bull elk there in the guided hunt areas. Also I understand that large areas of the 33000 acres are fenced in.

Does anyone know if this is true?

Thanks,
Casey
