Snow for the Idaho turkey opener??!!
Hey all! Turkey season opened today in Idaho (and many other places I would guess). We have not had any snow here since January (Moscow and surrounding area) but today of course it SNOWED for turkey opener.
A little snow didn't slow us down however (or the lovesick toms).
Thanks to much of the good advice I received on patterning and loads for turkey.....got this one at 7:15 AM; 35 yards; 1 7/8 oz of #5's 17 pellets hit the neck head area........

Nice Bird.

I'm in Pullman and I was completely shocked with the snow this morning.

-Everybody has a dream hunt, mine just happens to be for a Moose.-

-The 30-06 is like a perfect steak next to a campfire, a .300 Win Mag is the same but with mushrooms and a baked potato-

My two hunting partners went up around Kooskia and spent Friday afternoon roosting some birds. Twenty minutes after daylight on the opener, they pulled their triggers on the count of 1-2-3 and two longbeards hit the ground. Then they only had to drive 10 hours home! Long trip, but the smiles lasted all the way.

Our season has been open since April 1, but yesterday was to first day to top 100 degrees. Today is supposed to be a more modest 95, but tomorrow a cold front is slated to come through to knock it down to 88.

I did take a jake on Saturday despite 30 mph wind and 97 degree temps.

I sure am glad that global warming is just myth.

IdahoVandal: YOU are, "da'man"!
Congrats on the fine trophy you took in the snow!
I am holding off to combine a Turkey and a Prairie Dog Hunt for next week!
Great photo as well - thanks for sharing.
Hold into the wind (snow!)

Geez, and to think I was whining to myself last week about it being windy and 70. Good shooting!
