Is Sunday hunting allowed where you live?
I live in Pennsylvania, and Sunday hunting (other than for foxes and crows) is not allowed here. I would really, really like to be able to hunt on Sunday, and I imagine a lot of other hunters would too. I normally only get Saturday and Sunday off, so during the two week deer season, unless I ditch work, I only get 2 full days.

So, is hunting allowed on Sunday where you live? If it isn't, do you think it should be?

You can hunt all you want on Sundays in Alabama and Louisiana.

I used to hunt in South Carolina and the clubs never hunted on Sundays. I don't know if that was tradition or by law.

No Sunday hunting now that I'm in VA. Sunday hunting was allowed in SD and UT, though in UT the Mormons were out of the woods leaving us heathens alone!

As bad as the Republic of Kalifornia is, they do allow hunting on Sunday here. For all the bad things I might say about this state, we do have pretty good hunting opportunities, actually.

In fact just this morning I made plans with my dad to go coyote hunting come Sunday morning. Following that we may go shoot a few ground squirrels just for fun. They are available to shoot year round provided the sun will come out.

I certainly think hunting on Sunday should be allowed in every state!!!! That restriciton is just plain stupid!

In NH where I live, Sunday hunting is allowed. In Maine, I believe it is not. It's too bad..just a really archaic (sp?) law.

New York State allows Sunday hunting.

The thing that kills me about "No Sunday Hunting" regulations is that I can go sit on a hill and shoot targets all day (legally), but if the woodchuck sticks his head out he's not fair game.

The only good thing I can say is that when I hunt in PA I can always look forward to sleeping in at camp on Sundays! (Saturday night the 'boys' head in to town for a good steak and a beer or two).

No in NC a hold over from the old "blue law" days. If I really want to hunt on Sunday I can hunt on Ft. Bragg which has Sunday hunting but NO MONDAY hunting. Go figure.

Yes we can hunt in OK on Sunday. Many farmers don't want you hunting on their land on Sunday. I have to say that a law against anything done legaly any other day seems to me like the church is not separate from the state. Any law that makes you follow my religous rules is way out of line.

We can hunt any day in Iowa. I hunt in Pa. occasionally, and I was taken a bit by surprise the first time, when they told me I couldn't go out on Sunday. I think that is the next issue Gary Alt should address. I would suggest MANY petitions to Mr Alt.

Here in VA where I'm at work 5 days a week, I am aggravated no end that not only this state, but all the other states within a reasonable half-day's drive forbid Sunday hunting -- except private land in some counties in WV, and a couple days in MD (none of which I could take advantage of due to other commitments).

On the other hand, when I go to Maine for an extended period, I can usually use the enforced day of rest after my buddy drags me all over the hills for 6 days...

There were about 5 counties in Michigan that had Sunday hunting bans of some kind or another. They were all lifted back on December 1st by our new Governor. Now I can actually hunt my best spot on my days off from work.

In PA, hunting seasons also close, often for one day, on Christmas! Clearly a blue law.

In Alberta, Sunday hunting is allowed in the northern half of the province. I'm not sure why, really. - Dan
