If I had a 7mm Mag with a bunch of wear & a bunch of rounds down the tube, and thought I had enough name recognition to get $8000 for it (and then probably get another new one for free, just for the "free advertising" of whoever supplies it), I'd be selling mine too!

Boddington has written that this David Miller rifle is the finest bolt action rifle he has ever owned but he wishes it was not a 7 Mag. He has stated the 7 Mag is not one of his favorites. In fact he likes a 30-06 better than the 7 Mag.

Maybe he's just sick of the rifle and wants to be rid of it. We've all been there!

I owned a pair of Miller Marksman custom rifles. These were wonderful, high-performance rifles and beautifully-made, but I sold them because I didn't like the uncheckered, oil-finished, laminated stocks. These went down the road before the B&C fiasco came about, which I guess is lucky for me..........

I think 'who knows and who cares' is accurate. I have a hard time understanding why selling a rifle is such a big deal, but: (1) I bought the rifle, and paid very close to what I'm asking for it--16 years ago. Asking price doesn't cover inflation or 5% interest. (2) It's a very nice rifle, lovely wood, Miller's unbeatable metal work, best of all it shoots straight. Selling it because: I haven't used it in a long time, decided it was too nice for the beating I give rifles . . . and I have a daughter starting college, have a better use for the $$$$ right now. I've actually been trying to sell if for nearly two years, but only the fellow left-handers viewing this will have any idea how difficult it is to sell left-handed rifles!!!!!!!

I called your house several months ago and left a message on the machine. I wanted to pick your brain about a hunt in the RSA I just did a few weeks ago. Then I spoke with someone that told me you were off playing soldier in the Middle East.

Just about to wrap up the layout on a Coues deer hunting book done with Duwane A. as a co-author. Going to the printers next week.

Welcome to the forum. I should mention that while I don't read 'Hunting' magazine that much, I thought that the story of the desert sheep was first rate work. Probably one of the best stories you've written, IMHO.

Can we just let Craig sell his rifle. A lot of folks on here have said quite a bit and I am sure some regret it now that Craig has joined the forum. You folks do not even the man and can find it in yourself to throw stones, we must have a lot of perfect folks on here. I am proud to know Craig as a friend and any one of you on this board would have more than a good time in a hunting camp with him, though I can't say the same for him after some things I have read on this post and others. If I had the money I would buy Craig's rifle for my son as it would be something that would mean a lot to myself and my son as Craig is someone that I have been reading for many, many years and he is a big reason I have such a yearning to hunt Africa and many other places in the world. He has kept my adventurous mind occupied since childhood and I look forward to many more years of his adventures.

Too bad you have such an axe to grind. Wonder which parade of yours I rained on? Rifles like the Miller rifle, that I paid a whole lot of cold, hard cash for when I really couldn't afford to, those I figure I can at least try to sell whenever I choose. Whomever buys that one will have a very fine rifle, hasn't shifted zero (or changed group size) in 16 years. But I'm not about to give it away, and maybe there's nobody out there who thinks it's worth what I paid for it. Me, I thought it was bargain then and I think it's a better bargain now.

Mark--Yes, on the west slopes of Pico Johnson, actually one of the little ranges of ridges to the southwest. Beautiful country! I had serious "buyer's remorse" just before the hunt--what a stupid thing to do! Took me most of a year's combat pay. But the remorse went away when I saw that ram, and has never come back!!!!!

Thanks for all of your work over the years. To hunters of my generation who are too young to have read Keith, O'Connor, and the like when they were alive you are one of the "greats" of your profession. I am leaving on my first safari to RSA later this month and just finished "The African Experience" last night. There was some really good information in that book and I feel better informed having read it. I don't have any specific questions for you but wanted to express my appreciation for your writing, and your service to our country. I saw you at the Kimber booth at the NRA meetings in Orlando but didn't want to bother you. Keep up the good work.

Craig B-thanks for the response--2 winters ago I worked with Kirk down south. One of the best expereinces of my life!
One of the hunts I guided on was at Pico--what a great place-what a great hunt-it was a true gift!

The fella who took the sheep us was on his last hunt (had cancer) he filled his slam there-man it was something else.
