SBTWyoming Opening Day Elk Success
What a hunt! We packed in a camp the day before the opener. The camp was going to be for my friends college age dughters next weekend. However, that night we were treated to numerous bugling bulls and even saw a 4-point and a 6-point from camp. Opening morning was even better, as bulls were bugling all around us. We saddled up and rode for 5-10 minutes towards the heaviest concentaration of bugles. We tied up, and with in ten minutes, we had two bulls killed. Must have seen 25-30 elk. I killed the first bull I saw, as did my buddy. Neither was very big, a ragehorn for me and a five-point with a broken main beam for my buddy. However, it was a great experience. We packed out my bull and go back tomorrow for my buddies. What a year!
