Three Things That Bring To Mind Perfection
There are three things that bring to mind perfection

1. When one thinks of God - The Trinity

2. When one thinks of the three parts to an atom - neutron, electron, proton

3. When one thinks of what to hunt with - TheTrio= Velocity, Energy, Accuracy

257WBY 300WBY 416WBY

Perfection??

Antiquated belt
Rounded shoulder
Excessive freebore
Inefficient powder to bore ration

What perfection?? Weatherby's are on the other end of the scale!! stir hammering

It must bug the crap out of you that people still love their weatherbys and manage to use them across the world to successfuly take their quarry. Hmm Inneficient powder to bore ratio.... Geez I wonder why they would do that, I might lay awake at night thinking about that one.

Nope, it just bugs the hell out of me when a poster makes such a nuisance of himself that he damn near gets banned on another forum by posting Weatherby this and Weatherby that for 200 posts in less than a month, gets this very thread (word for word) locked by the moderators over there and then brings this mindless drivel over here.

You participate, maybe after the 200th post saying the same thing then you might feel like bashing your Weatherby's against a tree like others on the other forum said they were going to do.

I've got a Weatherby 30-378 in the gun safe now, do I think it's perfect, hell no I'm smarter than that. Do I think it has it's place and time, yes. And I'm willing to logically talk about the reasons not just spout mindless drivel.

Yes, I'm still mad about the other forum and I don't want to see it happen here. I feel better now. Y'all go ahead and smooze it up.

If you are so happy in your real world, why do you find it necessary to rain crap in everone elses. It's one thing to have a discussion, its another to badger people because they are happy with what they have. Whether he is wrong are you are wrong, it doesn't matter. Besides, we all know that Weatherby's aren't the perfect rifle, I would tell you what it is, but you would get upset because it wasn't your favorite. If you are mad about another board, take it up there, quit bringing your ire and dribble here.

You got confrontational

I responded by letting off some steam. I apologize. I have no quarrel with you, especially since you have thought about it

Y'all go for it, I won't bother you any more unless personally provoked.

That's a hard trio to beat. I've had hunting experience with the .257 & .300 bees and can't say enough good things. In fact, I get sick because I sold a lovely 26" MK V Deluxe every time I see a discusion on Weatherby power.

With the .416 Wby in play I would trade-out the .300 for a .338-378. So my combination would be 257-338/378-416. Cool

I looked at the 338 378 pretty hard before getting the 340, the 340 has a whole lot of knock down juice, I can imagine what the 338-378 would be like. I would agree that a 257, 338 and 416 is pretty much the sweet deal!

When I think of perfection, I see the faces of my wife and children and how they've made my life so complete.

I think of my parents and how hard they worked for so many years -- and for so little.

I also think of a brisk autumn morning in the mountains, where the golden rays of sun peak over the horizon to bring forth another day of hunting in God's great outdoors.

And when I think of perfect calibers for the job at hand, the "Weatherby" name isn't even an afterthought. I've had 'em, tried 'em and eventually sold 'em -- and don't plan to have another Weatherby unless it's in a non-Weatherby caliber.

But I hope that last statement isn't too "confrontational" for a couple of you... Big Grin

If the .378 bee had been at the top of the heap then I would have gone .257-.300-.378. With the .416 in play then the .257-.338-.416. I think the .340 Wby is about as good as it gets in the .338 caliber clan. It would guess a little more compact rig than the .338-.378?

I was just telling a young fellow last night, not to make the same mistakes I did. One of them was not savoring a 20 yr old butt more. When I was his age my focus was more on quanity than quality. Alas, my day is now past that I will be able to savor something that age again.
