N E 450 No2Blaser Chronicals : 375 Tracker on the Chrono
I had the chance to shoot the 19 3/4" Blaser Tracker bbl in 375 H&H over the Chrono today. Results are:
Federal factory loads:
300 gr Nosler Partition 2372 fps
260 gr Accubond 2536 fps
250 gr Trophy Bonded bear Claw 2532 fps
[Not bag figures really, so you would lose 120 odd feet per second from say a 24" barrel ??

PathfinderJust for comparisons I just chronoed some Fed premium 375 H&H 300 gr partitions out of my M70 with 24" barrel and the averaged 2453 FPS.They were also very consitant with about 7-8 fps variance. Maybe I'm wrong but I thought that was very good. The additional 4.25" barrel lenght doesn't seem to add all that much.

DB BillA few years ago I had the opportunity to test a vareity of factory 300gr 375 H&H loads and despite what the box said about velocity, they all averaged 2440-2450 fps in the 24" factory barrel.
So I could probably lop my 25 1/2" cz barrel to 22" with little or no effect ??

Your figures are what I have also recorded with 300 grain factory ammo. The 270 grain Winchester Power Point ammo was always around the 2620 area. That has been mainly from Model 70s with 24 inch factory barrels.

prof242PC, You are correct. I chopped my .375H&H to 22" and have never regretted it.
