Last Tuesday I felt something odd while blowing snow drove to the walk in center had an EKG done. Today I got the zipper scar and am heading home from the hospital....amazing.

No I listened to my bride she is much smarter than me. Dr. told me when I asked ,"do I really need this", no but most likely be dead inside of 6 months without it. Beside the soreness I feel GREAT! Thank you Karen and Dr. Olenchock!.

The long recovery sucks. I bought mine about 13 years ago. Spent my recovery time tying fishing flies and loading bullets. I still have hundreds of flies, and cases of bullets despite annual attrition.

Thanks for the well wishes. I am 4 days post surgery today my breast bone shoulders and back ache but heart feels fine. Not my field but imagine another week or so will make a huge difference.
AR has some good people but could you imagine I received 3 messages citing AR hoping I would suffer for years? Odd people in the world....save a deer let a human die in agony.

I had a double surgery to fuse my lower spine in January. I was in agony for almost four weeks after the second surgery. Once I started feeling better things progressed very steady. I will be 8 weeks out this Friday. I am actually feeling pretty good and nearly able to do everything I need to do for daily chores here on the farm.

You will be sore for a few weeks but if you have normally been a pretty active person, once you pass that threshold of bone/skin healing you will recover quickly.

Who ever wished you ill is completely sick. You should post their names.

Anti hunters are a strange lot. By that logic, all ranchers & farmers are as bad, along with meat cutters,
meat distributors, grocery stores, meat eaters, etc.

I had quadruple bypass just a little over five years ago. My surgeon--who was a sporting clays shooter--said no heavy-recoiling rifles for a year, and no skeet for at least 6 months.

He also advised shooting sub-gauges and reduced loads. I haven't fired a 12 gauge in over 5 years. Mostly shoot 28 & .410.

I'm spending my shooting time at the handgun range: 45, 38 & .380.

If I hunt again, it'll be with my 7x57 or 6.5 CM.

All my magnums sit in the gun cabinet, gathering dust (metaphorically speaking; I still keep them clean). Can't bring myself to sell them.

As far as post-op pain is concerned, my recovery after a hernia repair was a lot more unpleasant than what I experienced after bypass. Of course, the seriousness of both procedures is really not comparable.

Glad you are feeling and doing okay. It really is a miracle surgery.

My mom had stents minor stroke and triple bypass in 6 months.

She is doing much much better - I am exhausted And worn out.

A lot of people do not know it about me but I am an ordained UCC pastor.
I had to use a sleep mask in hosptial and while zonked out on oxycodome a nurse came in to do vitals I heard her gently calling my name. Woke up only saw black to hear my name called gently from afar, I said (according to my wife), "I am ready Lord I will follow you home" must admit when wife pulled mask off I was relieved.

Nineteen years for me from a double by pass. I felt something while jogging at the YMCA. Like others say, everyone should listen to their body.

My clogged arteries were the "widow Maker" variety, so I probably wouldn't have survived a heart attack.

Doing everything I want to do, lots of hunts and shooting. Will be 69 next month, I am blessed.

Watch out for two potential pitfalls.

First are those who think they can resume bad habits after bypass. Typically, they (too)soon discover the error. Don't ignore the wake-up call. Re-do grafting is risky, and not fun (for surgeon or patient).

Second group are those who are paralyzed by fear after bypass, apt to give up living. Those folks should listen to Camdog. Follow instructions while healing, yes. Then get back on your horse.

Godspeed in your recovery. CABG is an operation so time-tested that you should expect a very long life going forward. Seriously, for most people that don't have damaged myocardium, heart failure, etc. you should consider it as a perfectly good organ that just got brand new plumbing that should last 20-30 years at least.

Sorry to hear about the health scare, Terry. I had an M.I. 13 years ago and it was a wakeup call. Went for my annual checkup with my Cardiologist last week- BP was 100/60 and my lab results were pretty good for a 72 year old. I’ll be hunting with Jan du Plessis of Sebra Hunting Safaris in 6 weeks, and I’ll be sure to tell Jan and Mariesje about your surgery. Being the devout Christians that they are, I’m sure they’ll offer up some prayers for your full and speedy recovery.

I am sorry you had to endure the health issue. There is absolutely no reason for you to have had to endure abuse by people like these. They are truly mentally ill. What has happened to the world?
