308SakoProud Husband
It's great to come home from a hard day afield and have the wife ask what you saw, what you got... and then tell you you have 15 minutes before dinner and would you please go get her buck!
Now of course I asked if it was gutted! Yeah, right... .308 165 Nosler BT, shredded the heart, range 45 yards. H&K polygonal.
That's the exitside showing... no trailing required.

Bobby TomekCongratulations are certainly in order!
That 165 grain BT looks like it performed perfectly.
Now, for the 64K question: How cold was your supper before you got to it???

DocWO WO WO HANG ON, WAIT A MINUTE....
You do realize that it is IMPOSSIBLE for a NBT to penetrate through the shoulder of a deer don't you?!

Especially at 45 yards!

All kidding aside, your wife's outcome mirrors mine. Tell her congratulations. Great shot too BTW.
Even if your dinner was cold, I'll bet it still tasted good huh?

seafire/B17GTell your dear, nice deer!

What state was that taken in???
If the range was 45 yds with that ballistic tip, was the ammo down loaded by chance???
If not what kinda MV approximately was the load giving???

308SakoBobby Tomek, Actually 18 minutes, the quad was cold starting... but the blade was sharp, and my hunting companion could hold a light and a leg.
Dinner was a joyous celebration of the gifts of life.
Seafire, I'm not known for downloading anything but internet information! This was a full power load of Win 748 behind that BT. MV is about 2680 if memory serves me in her H&K 770.
She calls them "Green Meanies" by the way!
It is said that you can tell alot about a "man" by the way "he" shoots deer. I guess you can tell alot about the ladies as well...

JudgeGCongratulations to the both of you! To Hubby for having such a great wife, and the Lady on a fine buck.
On this same forum, I post about my daughter taking her first buck. I hope she'll find herself a husband someday who'll gut and recover her deer, too.
