Do you know if you will be hunting over bait or will it be spot and stalk? I would recommend hunting over bait. I have only shot two black bears, both over bait, and I always get too impatient and shoot the first one that comes along...everyone tells me too wait for a bigger one... That may work, but I am not that patient!! What kind of gun will you be using? Maybe you are a bow hunter....If using a rifle, I would use a bullet that you think will pass completely through the animal from any angle (Nolser Partition, Barnes X, Fail Safe, Swift A-Frames). Again, good luck!

SmokerThanks Guy's, I'll shoot if I see one

. I'm using a 45-70 Marlin with a busnell scopechief 2.5-7, 300 JSP Hornady, loaded not to the top but close. Be hunting over bait. When I posted the message I was hoping there were some folks out there that would give me some recommends as to outfitters. Just about signed up with Enchanted outfitters out of West Forks, Me. Seem like very nice people. Phil

jorgeTo be up front, I'm an investor in
www.Bowlincamps.com near Patten Maine. It's owned by myself, father in law and two retired USMC Officers ( I'm USN active duty still). It's a great place to hunt, we average about 80% on bears. Give Ken Conatser a call up there. I'm sure there are other fine places up there, in Maine too, so cal around. I killed a nice 19" Blackie up there last year. He went 320lb. jorge

CraigPI've hunted with
Stony Brook Outfitters twice and highly recommend them. Another outfit my friends have used a number of times is
Turnpike Ridge Outfitters . I think you would be happy with either outfit.

Jim_DavenportPhil look at the 300 Gr Nosler partition for your 4570. I hunt with a #3 Ruger in that caliber. I've been extremely happy with that bullet. I load it with 55.5 gr's of IMR 3031, with a lee factory crimp.

SmokerThank you all for your info. The outfitters suggested look very good. I have heard good things about Nosler partition bullets, but have completed my test loads and have 50 or so loaded, ready to go. Smoker
