World's biggest elk?

dan belisleWorld's biggest elk?
Just reading the morning paper, and it looks like a farmer in Millet, Alberta, took a huge elk in the Battle River area during the Sept. archery season. The local fish and Game people have measured it up, but he's taking it to the US for measuring at some show in March. 422 and 5/8 is what they measured it at. There's a picture of the gent and his elk head, and the rack is almost as tall as he is. I've hunted there for deer, and I'm quite surprised by the size of that elk. Oh well, congratulations, anyway. - Dan

<JOHAN>Gentlemen
Don't be shy could we get a frontal shoot too?
What a monster
Christer, seems like we need to get some new blood into Sweden if the moose in our area will be big like this one

MACThat's a really good bull, But I have to point out that it is a long ways from the world's biggest elk.
The current #1 and #2 typical elk in Boone and Crockett both score over 442. And there are sveral over 422 listed. When you get to the non-typical's we're looking at over 460. Great elk, but not the biggest. However, I'd take a shot at any elk like that any day I'm hunting.

BradOne of the local boys took the #1 P&Y here in MT in 2000... it netted 427. He's on the cover of one of the current Eastman rag's with a "smaller" bull he took this year... you can see his 200 bull inside the mag.

Pete EGuys,
Out of interest guys do a search on "Irish Bog Elk"...they are actually a deer rather than a true Elk. but had the largest antler span of any known deer/elk. They have some in a local museum and they are *very* impressive indeed...
